The Museum of Art, Ehime

(愛媛県美術館)

Location: Matsuyama


The art museum houses over 10,000 works by top-class foreign artists including Cézanne and Monet, and by representative recent and modern Japanese artists and local artists.



The Tokoro Art Museum Omishima

(ところミュージアム大三島)

Location: Imabari


Opened in 2004, the Tokoro art museum has about 30 collections including works by American-based Noe Katz, Tom Wesselmann, Giacomo Manzu (known for the 14-year project of the gate of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome), along with Japanese artists such as Norichika Hayashi and Takashi Fukai. In this museum, even the views of the Seto Inland Sea are works of art!


Omishima Art Museum

(大三島美術館)

Location: Imabari


Opened in 1986, the Omishima Art Museum shows a wide range of contemporary Nihonga, Japanese style paintings, of which the museum has already built up a collection of over 1,000 pieces including works by Yukio Umehara, Hatanaka Hikaritoru, Masaru Matsumoto, Shigeki Murata and Chinami Nakajima.



Tamagawa Museum of Art

(玉川美術館)

Location: Imabari

Imabari City Kono Museum Of Art

(今治市河野美術館)

Location: Imabari


The Museum’s collection consists mainly of decorative folding screens and scrolls. The screens feature fantastically dramatic dragons, idealized scenes of nobles enjoying the countryside, and battles with lots of people scampering about on horses. The scrolls are highly varied and include monochrome brush work, calligraphy, and coloured depictions of birds, court nobles, and Chinese-style scenes of deep river gorges.
