The Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki

Location: Mito
The museum has a collection of works from artists such as Yokoyama Taikan, Hishida Shunso, and Shimomura Kanzan. They also have a collection of Japanese-style paintings by Ogawa Usen who loved to depict people doing agriculture and animals living in harmony with nature. They also have paintings by Taisho-era western-style painters who were very influential in the art world and a collection of over 3600 European pieces of art.
Art Tower Mito

Location: Mito
The Art Tower Mito is a joint art facility. It has an art museum with mainly modern art exhibits, a concert hall, and a stage for musicals and traditional arts like rakugo. In the museum, they hold many exhibitions of famous Japanese artists as well as foreign artists.
The Tokugawa Museum
(徳川ミュージアム)
Location: Mito
The collection of the Tokugawa Museum consists of around thirty thousand treasures of the Mito Tokugawa family – Samurai collection – and thirty thousand documents stored in Shokokan Libary.
